Yes they do but these versions can be restricted in a number of ways. Versioning can be enabled or disabled per folder, and if enabled it is possible to limit the number of major and minor versions that are retained.
No this isn’t possible; access to the SharePoint site requires a mailbox.
Using the administration control panel you can create and remove mailboxes, set storage limits for users, create distribution lists (i.e. sales@domain.com), set up mail forwarding and manage additional services such as IM and SharePoint.
It is a multi-tenant environment that has been built from the ground up with resiliency and security in mind and uses Microsoft Active-Directory to logically separate one customer’s data from another. All elements of the infrastructure are either duplicated, clustered or both to allow for protection against failure and optimum performance together with offering ease of expansion.
Users will need to have separate authentication to access this environment; there is no integration with local Active Directory. Administrators can quickly and easily create and amend usernames and passwords from the control panel.
Star works very closely with Microsoft both at a strategic and technical level. Star is one of only a select number of accredited Microsoft Communications Services partners in the UK, delivering both hosted Exchange and hosted Office Communications Server based services. This rigorous accreditation requires qualified engineers, robust processes and a number of customer references alongside the technical integration of the complete set of Microsoft communications services. We are hosted services innovators and have developed a compelling roadmap of innovative technology to support your businesses communications needs now and in the future.
Star manages and supports the Exchange and Office Communications Server environment as well as the admin control panel. Star does not provide support for end users utilisation of mail clients (such as Outlook 2007), LAN or desktop configuration. Star can recommend organisations that can carry out these services.
- Star work with you to configure your mail to route through MessageLabs infrastructure onto your existing mail server. Email is still sent outbound directly to the Internet. If you already take the MessageLabs services, either with Star or separately, we will work with MessageLabs directly to ensure a smooth transition of those services to Star Business Email.
- Your new account is set up and you gain access to the admin control panel
- You then setup, with Star’s assistance if required, users, contacts, distribution lists and public folders as needed.
- You create a new Outlook profile to connect to the Star Business Email service.
- You instruct us when you are ready to go live
- Mail traffic then flows from MessageLabs to the Star email platform.
- Once it has been established that email is no longer being received by your old system, you can then start using your new profile and archiving historic email as a .pst file.
- Your .pst archive can then be kept locally or dragged into the new Exchange environment inbox.
Star will provide email and phone support to aid your migration to the service.
You have the ability to download all mail messages to a local machine(s) through Outlook. Should you wish Star to put your data on storage media and send it to you this will incur an hourly charge. |
